Walk & Talk Therapy

In the heart of the Dandenong Ranges

What is Walk and Talk Therapy?

Walk and Talk Therapy takes the counselling session outside of the consulting room and into nature. It’s an opportunity to engage with your body and the natural world as we work on your therapeutic goals together throughout the course of a short nature walk together.

Where is the walk, and what is it like?

There are a few different walks available, all in the Dandenong Ranges near the suburbs of Olinda and Sassafrass. They are all fairly leisurely, mostly flat walks through eucalyptus forests with plenty of nature, including the beautiful ferns and green rain forest undergrowth that the Dandenong Ranges are famous for.

Do I need to be a fit hiker to do this therapy?

Not at all! The walks are mostly flat, and there aren’t any technical bits. If you can comfortably carry on a chat as you walk around your neighbourhood for an hour, you should be good to go for a Walk and Talk Therapy session.

My approach to counselling, regardless of the setting, is to always walk alongside you in your journey — Walk and Talk Therapy makes this metaphor a little more literal.

Walk & Talk Therapy could be for you if…

You want to build a deeper connection to your body and somatic experience.

You want to build a deeper connection to nature and the world around you.

It feels hard to talk openly sitting across from someone or looking them in the eyes.
